Media show returns to rte radio

The Media Show, which returns to RTE Radio One this evening,  will take an informative, entertaining and off-beat look at the world of print, broadcast and on-line media. The weekly show, presented by Conor Brophy, will get under the skin of major and minor media stories in a punchy, jargon-free and accessible way that will make it enjoyable for a wider, broad based audience.

Over the course of the 13 weeks the listener will not just hear a programme that’s agenda setting, but it will also be colourful, interesting, robust, energetic and entertaining.

There will be sharp interviews with some of the major players in Irish and International media. The Media Show will also be a place where the listener will encounter new ideas, new voices, and be exposed to the freshest, quirkiest, and most intelligent thinking in a changing media world.

This week on the Media Show, Conor will speak to an Irish journalist who is currently working for Al Jazeera and another Irish journalist who worked for them in the past. He looks at media consumption trends and the art of headline writing. NPR Media Correspondent David Folkenflik will talk about media ownership and Paul Tylak and Tara Flynn with perform a short radio play set in a newsroom.

Conor Brophy is a multimedia journalist with RTÉ working across a wide range of radio and TV programmes. He has been a regular contributor to Morning Ireland and Drivetime, presenting business news bulletins, and on RTÉ television news programmes the Six One News and Morning Edition. Conor has filled in as presenter on the News At One, This Week and The Business on Radio 1. Prior to joining RTÉ he was business editor at Newstalk and worked as a reporter with the Sunday Tribune.

The Media Show airs on RTÉ Radio 1, Sundays at 7.00pm

The Media Show will be independently produced by Old Yard Productions for RTÉ Radio 1.
