Pride and Prejudice.

Movie season at draiocht

Who doesn’t love a great movie? In our busy lives, movies provides much needed escapism and enjoyment – it can help us get through a tough time in our lives as well as giving us a great night out with a group of friends. Well, Draíocht has just launched its new Movie Programme for 2015, changing from showing one movie per month to now showing one movie per week on Wednesdays at 7.30pm. This increased offering comes after consultation with other arts centres nationwide as well as with Access Cinema, the resource organisation for regional cultural cinema in Ireland, and with whom Draíocht is delighted to have a new association.

With a broadened offering that includes a mix of well-known mainstream releases, family movies and art-house movies, Draíocht hopes to encourage more people into the venue, with most screenings shown on their new big screen in the Main Auditorium. It’s affordable too with tickets in Draíocht just €7.50 full price and €6 concession. You can choose your seats online and book in advance or take a chance and just come on the night. Ideally located in the Blanchardstown Centre means free parking and lots of choice when it comes to places to eat.

The line up for the next few months looks exciting and diverse. First up, on 21 January at 7.30pm, with one of the longest movie titles in history is ‘The 100 Year Old Man Who Climbed out the Window and Disappeared’, the 2013 Swedish movie based on the internationally best-selling novel by Jonas Jonasson. It’s the story of dynamite expert Allan Karlsson, who on this 100th birthday decides to bust out of his nursing home and start over on a new adventure. It’s a beautifully shot film, darkly comic and a bit absurd at times, but highly entertaining.

Other films this Season include ‘Night Moves’ starring Jesse Eisenberg, Oscar-nominated star of The Social Network (Draíocht 4th Feb) and Pride and Prejudice, the original version from 1940 starring Laurence Olivier (Draíocht 11th Feb).
