Post-show discussions with Abbey actors at Solstice

The Abbey Theatre on tour visits Solstice Arts Centre, Navan with its award winning play ‘Quietly’ by Owen McCafferty on Tuesday 1st and Wednesday 2nd April. This powerful play about truth and reconciliation has been described as ‘the best new play of the year’ by The Irish Times and ‘an understated yet explosive play’ by The Guardian.
As part of the Abbey Theatre’s Community and Education work, this tour will feature a series of workshops and discussions. On Tuesday 1st April there will be a pre-show workshop for schools with the Abbey Theatre’s Head of Community and Education Phil Kingston and Quietly cast member Robert Zawadzki. Following the performance on Wednesday 2nd April, the cast of Quietly will have a post-show discussion where you can learn more about this award-winning production.
Quietly is the story of two strangers with a shared history who meet in a Belfast pub. Up to this point their lives have been shaped by a single event in the past.  Now they want to know the truth so they can come to terms with the past. As they work through the trauma and hurt, they gradually reach an understanding between them. The play is directed by Jimmy Fay and features award-winning actors, Patrick O’Kane and Declan Conlon and Polish actor Robert Zawadzki.
Last August the Abbey Theatre toured Quietly to the Edinburgh Festival Fringe where it was hailed as one of the must-see festival shows and sold out at the Traverse Theatre during its three week run.  It was critically acclaimed by the international media and went on to win three prestigious awards - Best Play at The Writers’ Guild Awards 2013, a Fringe First Award at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe, and Best Actor for Patrick O’Kane at the Stage Awards for Acting Excellence.
