Meath Youth Film Festival in Ashbourne this month

Meath Youth Film Festival 2014, organised by Meath County Council Arts Office and Createschool, takes place from 17th to 21st February. This week long film project will take place during the school’s mid term break and aims to enhance and develop the creative potential of young people in Meath and also offers them a showcase event at which to present their work. No previous experience is necessary, just some creative ideas and enthusiasm required.

At the Meath Youth Film Festival, young people will get the opportunity to work closely with professional artists and film makers to explore scripting, filming, directing, acting and editing while using devices that they are familiar with or have easy access to. This will ensure that they can continue their film making long after the project is completed.

Createschool is a long established creative force in digital media. Their workshops focus on creative collaboration, idea generation, creative expression and creative use of mobile technology. The goal of Createschool is to enable young people to use technology with creative outcomes such as film.

The Meath Youth Film Festival runs each day from 10am to 4pm, at the Theatre Space, Ashbourne Library and Cultural Centre, Killegland Street, Ashbourne and is suitable for young people aged 14-17. Cost is €50 for week long course, places are limited. To register, contact Meath County Council Arts Office on (046) 909 7414 or artsoffice@meathcoco.ie
