Ashbourne writer's new play stages in Dublin

Ashbourne-based writer Del Lennon's play 'Time's Tide' is being staged by Disaffection Theatre Company at The New Theatre, Temple Bar, from 19th to 24th March. Disaffection Theatre Company was formed by Lennon and Niamh Moroney. Their reason for creating a new company was to create a new platform in Irish theatre, where anyone and everyone are welcome to contribute their two cents. In the past few years, both have been working towards producing fresh theatre that is not based on politics, or the recession - to use theatre as a medium of escapism for society; pure entertainment. However, both practitioners came up against many walls, saying the Irish theatre scene is very close knit, and small. They found themselves on the fringes, and decided to do something about it. Disaffection is solely a new writing theatre company. This means that they are focused on getting new work, from all ages, and genres, circulating in the Irish theatre scene. They are achieving this with a night of new writings held in the Workman's Club, on the last Monday of every month. They will resume in April, as Time's Tide takes precedence for March. This event happens at 8pm at 10 Wellington Quay, Dublin 2, and is free.
