Jaméire appear at Swan Lane music venue, Old Balreask, on Saturday 3rd March.

Navan reggae band's first home gig of 2012

Navan's latest sensation Jaméire, a five piece reggae band, is making a debut appearance at Swan Lane music venue on Saturday 3rd March. Expect to hear all the Bob Marley favourites and some of the lesser known gems when Jaméire go on a trip through the early days of ska with the likes of 'Simmer Down' all the way to the later hits such as 'Buffalo Soldier' and 'Iron Lion Zion'. The show is mainly a tribute to the legend himself but don't be surprised to hear a few Marley inspired classics by the likes of Stevie Wonder or Manu Chou. The members have all played in various different bands throughout the country and have now been brought together by a mutual love for the original Jamaican style of reggae. Fronting a Wailers tribute band was a natural progression for the lead singer/rhythm guitarist Dorian Bordalo with his background in Samba percussion and world music. Arriving in Navan from Mozambique via Portugal he decided to form the band after years of hearing "Hey Bob!" on the streets of Ireland. Drums, bass/lead guitars and keyboards are provided by David Quail, Alun Smyth, Derek Murphy and Fintan Crehan respectively. Jaméire played their first gig last year at the 'Shave or Dye' benefit for cancer research in the Stonehouse, an event they will be headlining again this year on 7th April. Since then they have played all over Leinster finishing 2011 with a well received show in the Spirit Store, Dundalk. Jaméire are looking forward to playing the excellent Swan Lane venue for their first Navan gig of 2012. Support on the night will be provided by the up and coming Rhyino who is making waves on the local music scene. He has already recorded a few of his own acoustic tunes accompanied by some great videos. DJ John Nolan, aka Samjay, will be providing the post gig grooves with his own brand of cutting edge electronica accompanied by the excellent VJ Hydra on visuals. Admission is €5.
