This year is no different, as Ballet Ireland presents their latest production 'Scheherazade and 1001 Arabian Nights' on Saturday 17th and Sunday 18th December - the last two performances of a hugely successful and acclaimed tour. Scheherazade and 1001 Arabian Nights opened in the Gaiety Theatre, Dublin in October before embarking on a nationwide tour of Ireland and the UK where it has been extremely well received by critics and audiences alike. The ballet is the story of King Shahriyar who betrayed by his former wife, vows to marry, love and then behead a new bride each night - that is until he encounters the beautiful and wise Scheherazade, who pleads to tell him a story before her impending execution. For 1001 nights, he postpones her execution enthralled, as he awaits her next tale of love, hilarity or sorrow. Her enchanting stories of Aladdin, Sinbad the Sailor and other mystical characters bewitch him and he makes her his queen. The exotic score is by composer Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov and choreographed by Morgann Runacre-Temple whose production of Romeo and Juliet scored huge acclaim for the company last year. Suitable for all ages, the ballet is always a popular treat at Christmas time - spoil someone special with tickets to see this wonderful production you won't be disappointed. Tickets are €20/€16 concessions and are available from Solstice box office on (046) 909 2300 or online at www.solsticeartscentre.com
