UB40 perform at Teach na Teamhrach at the weekend.

Top acts arriving for Navan Live

Navan Live, the music festival centred around a 'big top' at Teach na Teramhrach at Balreask, Navan, gets underway this week with the main acts playing towards the weekend. This year's festival will bring much needed revenue into the town, according to the organisers, Profile Music Group, who themselves are spending €200,000 on this year's event, employing local businesses and people to set up and run the event. Acts performing include The Buskateers, Red Queen Contest, The Whatmans, Hunters Edge, Outside The Box, Paul Brady & Band, Declan O'Rourke & Band, The Lost Brothers, UB40 and Henrietta Game, Yngve & The Innocent, The Barley Mob, Machine Gun Baby, and She's A Beauty. Profile's Kevin Booth said: "Over the week we will have a crew of up to 100 people working on set up. We are aiming to attract over 5,000 people into Navan the week of the festival. Accommodation in the town is already more or less fully booked and tickets are still selling. We feel Navan needs a festival like this and we hope with local support we can grow the festival year on year. "This year's stage, sound and lighting system will be the biggest the town has ever seen. "It will be on par to any other major festival that takes place in Ireland" As well as the big top events, Navan Live will have an Arts Trail around the town in association with Meath Art's Group, free lunch time gigs in The Solstice and a 10k Charity run in association with the Aisling International Group. Details of all events can be found on www.navanlive.ie. Tickets are available from the Navan Live website, e2 Music Navan, Ticket Group and Tickets.ie.
