Ashbourne actress Hannah Rose May delight as US cinema debut arrives

A MEATH actress is gearing up for her big screen debut alongside veteran Hollywood actor Wesley Snipes in a new film to hit US cinemas next month.
Hannah Rose May says she is ‘living in the moment’ after the trailer for the new science fiction movie ‘The Recall’ was released last week.
The 24-year old beauty who is originally from Ashbourne has already been snapped up for a new project, which she is keeping tight-lipped on for the minute.

Hannah, who is also a successful model gushed: “My first trailer! I’m sure nothing beats the feeling of the first one, so I’m living in this moment, as it was one hell of a road to get here.
“I’m trying to avoid an emotional status so here’s a corny quote from the film ‘La La Land’ that says it all for me:
“Here’s to the ones who dream, foolish as they may seem. Here’s to the hearts that ache, here’s to the mess we make.
“The movie is out in the US on June 16th. I just hope it opens doors to other roles but I’m so happy because the first one is the hardest to get and I’ve done that.”

Indeed directors were so impressed with the unknown actress’ audition for ‘The Recall’ that they overlooked star names who were among 750 other hopefuls seeking the part.
The new science fiction film, ‘The Recall’ tells the story of five friends who take a weekend trip to a lake house in the mountains.
As they settle in for a fun relaxing weekend, they turn on the TV to discover the world is under an alien invasion and mass abduction - and they’re in the middle of it!
Ahead of the film’s debut, Hannah has already been snapped up for another role which she is working on in LA at present but she’s also looking forward to a visit in the coming weeks from her Navan-based mum Fiona, to whom she has openly attributed her success.
“I was told by a modelling agency that I was too short to be a model but my mam believed in me,” she said.

“When I was 16 years old, she got me braces which was a big ask because they were expensive and we didn’t have much back then. We now joke that the braces paid off because my first national commercial in the US was for Colgate toothpaste just three years later.”
“In this line of work, I’ve had to face rejection my whole life. Anyone who decides to pursue a career in entertainment constantly has to.

“There’s no such thing as an overnight success. I’ve had many days where I’m like; ‘I can’t do this, I can’t face hearing another no’, but my mam will tell me to get back up and get back at it. She’s always encouraged me to be patient and persistent and hopefully, it’s working,” she said
