Click's free schools laptops

Meath primary schools can benefit from free laptop PCs while supporting a worthy charity and doing their bit for the environment in a campaign by Irish-owned home media and IT retailer, Click.ie and BPI Telecom, launched by Séan Daly, store manager, Click.ie, in Navan Town Centre. As part of the campaign, Meath primary schools who collect and donate 100 old mobile phones for recycling will benefit from a free laptop and other school supplies. "The current financial climate means that schools are under increasingly severe budgetary pressure," commented Séan Daly. "This is a great way for pupils to benefit from new resources while supporting this worthy cause." Meningitis Research Foundation has estimated that two deaths occur each month as a result of meningitis and septicaemia. There are approximately 250-300 incidences of the disease each year in Ireland, the majority of which will affect under-fives. The Laptops for Schools campaign is part of a programme organised by BPI Telecom which hopes to raise up to €1 million for Meningitis Research Foundation by requesting the public to donate old mobile phones. "We are delighted to be working with Click.ie in support of preventative research into this devastating disease," said Fergus Sweeney, managing director, BPI Telecom. Meath schools interested in participating should email freelaptops@click.ie. Click.ie is an Irish-owned home media and mobile communications retailer. As well as an online store, Click.ie has eight stores, including two in Ashbourne and Navan.
