The best ways to get rid of ants
Among the most unwanted visitors to the home, ants are unpleasant and unnerving. However, you don't have to just sit back and watch them take over. It's not an overly difficult task to get rid of ants.
The first task is to stop giving them the opportunity to thrive and multiply. Ensure your home is clean and free from insect temptations. Food wrappers need to be tidied up and worktops washed down on a regular basis. Floors, especially in the kitchen, need to be washed down, too.
Food should be put away and, where possible, left in sealed containers. Ants love sticky, sweet foodstuffs, so pay particular intention to those items. Household rubbish should be taken out of the house every day and put into bins or wheelie-bins outside.
There are many commercial products available that will dispose of the dreaded ant problem. They include borax, a natural mineral that ants detest. Cloves, left in areas near to the nest, are another excellent way to annoy the little critters. However, most nests will usually be outside the house; the ants on the inside are generally foraging for food.
If you manage to locate the nest, pouring boiling water inside can be an effective method to get rid of ants, although care will obviously be needed. With all the methods available, it should be relatively easy to eradicate the pests forever.
