Enfield Revue?s fantastic variety show set to roll

WITH just under a week to go before the lights shine on the purpose-built stage at the Hamlet Court Hotel, all cast members of Enfield Revue are putting the final touches to this year`s production, which promises to be a night of high entertainment for all the family no matter what age.

This year`s variety show will be staged from 12th-15th February inclusive, at 8pm each night. Revue 2008 has 46 cast members, an increase of18 since last year and 30 of this year`s cast members are new faces.

The committee has also had an increase in numbers and these increases are an indication of the interest in this energy-filled show.

This year`s show is choreographed by Corona Cosgrove who is no stranger to the stage. While performing in a number of shows and musicals, Corona is also a member of the Young Generation dance group which performs at Christmas cabaret shows, weddings, fashion shows, and much more. Corona, assisted by her sister Leanor, who has travelled the world as lead dancer with Rhythm of the Dance, has ensured that this year`s chorus line is polished to perfection - so prepare to be dazzled.

Costumes are, once again, in the hands of Jean Keogh, assisted by Carolyn O`Gorman and of those who have seen previous shows will know costumes have been a strong feature at Revue events.

The orchestra has a new member with Des Byrne joining the show for the first time and with band members Pat O`Beirn, musical director Jimmy Storey and family trio of Jimmy, Garry and Clifford Keogh, along with backing singers Cathy Davy, Pamela Keogh, Ann Mallon, Maria Mallon and Derek Greville, music fans will not be disappointed.

The comedy team is up to their tricks again and welcomed to the team are newcomers Ben Byrne and Sarah McNerney. This year a number of people “may or may not” appear on stage - watch out for Spiderman, Snow White, Bo Beep, Batman, Goldilocks, and a nurse, to name but a few.

The cost of this year`s production is at the foremost of the committee members` minds and this year saw a finance committee member Cathy Daniel, John Cosgrave, Trish Byrne and Geraldine Queeney, busy getting the money together to put the show on stage.

A carol-singing day was held in late December and Caroline Schouten must take a bow for all the time she put into putting song sheets together and ensuring everyone was dressed in festive gear on the day.

With cast members coming from Kinnegad, Trim, Longwood, Kilcock, Celbridge, Cavan, Enfield and Johnstownbridge, talent is in abundance and when everyone`s skill is put together to form a show; the result is colourful, vibrant, slick, funny and entertaining.

So if you want all of these and in comfort then get yourself to the Hamlet Court Hotel, Johnstownbridge, Enfield, on 12th, 13th, 14th or 15th February at 8pm for `Revuemania`.
